200 days of Switzerland

I was seriously intentioned to write periodically something about my experience in Switzerland, I really was. But here is the thing, life-related issues took over, and I might even had neglected some of them too much while focusing on work and writing my thesis, at the point to screw up important things.

So, right now it’s gone. And it’s gone really fast. Almost 200 days considering the initial trip, the six months and the few days after. To me, it looks like the day before yesterday.

However, Zürich is an amazing city, and I found Switzerland to be.. well.. actually more or less what I expected, which is really a big win. The landscape is wonderful: lakeside with swans, ducks and gulls surrounded by trees, spanning in a wide range of colors and hiding the buildings in the typical style of the city, and the hills and the snow covered mountains in the background is probably the best example that I’ll always remember.

Amazing Zurich

The bouncing book experiment

(If you found a link to this page on a book, please read this post: it explains the idea behind that strange table with names you found on the first blank page. Then, please follow the listed rules to help this experiment and enjoy the reading *<[:{) )

Last week, after the suggestion of a colleague, I bought a book. Now it’s the case that I found this book interesting and that I want to share it with a friend. Rather than a simple suggestion, since christmas is approaching, it looks like a nice idea for a gift. But wait, I had to order the book, and I don’t want to order (and wait for) another copy again.. I could give away mine, but I also like collecting books I read. So, thinking about this issue on the bus, I decided to make an experiment: I’ll sketch a table on the first blank page with my name in the first row and the name of my friend in the following. And then, why not adding some other lines? I’ll link this post for the people whose names will end up in the table, to read the rules of what i’m going to call …

Marsa Alam 2010

Sentido Oriental Dream

Well, it’s been a while since I went back from holidays and since memories begin fading away, I want to spend few words to review and remember the amazing place I’ve been. I enjoyed a week with my girlfriend at the Sentido Oriental Dream village ( images from google satellite are pretty old ¬_¬ ) in Marsa Alam, Egypt. We booked the tour with the italian tour operator Viloratour ( italian website ), but the place is also available for international tourists since also the animation is divided in two groups: the italian one ( because there are a lot of us :P ) and the international one. Anyway, the place is really good, the structures are clean often and well organized with a couple of restaurants and three pools, each with a bar where you can take drinks or snacks for free directly from the poolside or from inside the pool. This is because the treatment of the place is all inclusive ( soft or full, depends on your choice to have alcoholic drinks or not ). Buildings with rooms are connected to restaurants, pools and beach by paths surrounded by palms and flowers. The rooms internally are very hight celling, and each has a small terrace, a minibar, satellite tv, air conditioning and private bathroom. Room service is discreet and you may occasionally find animals sculptures realized with towels on the bed. Anyway, the best part of the place is definitely the sea. The egypt red sea is the place for the barrier reef, where you can see really hundreds of colored and big fishes. Read more

Innovation Lab 2010

Innovation Lab 2010, Young Go-Getter Team

Does this look like a successful team ?
I spent the last days ( or weeks ? ) working with these guys at the business idea we submitted for this great chance. Even if we started with another completely different idea that we discarded in the middle of the timeline, the current idea has been in my mind for a couple of years, and my hope was to put it into a concrete form. We really worked hard on it, think about that: we spent last sunday and yesterday night till midnight at a MacDonald because in that period of time it was the only place with an internet connection we can stay and work :P

Anyway, the Innovation Lab 2010, that yesterday hitted wired news (it) is close to its grand final: tomorrow is the big day! Everyone interested is welcome from 9:30 for the Green Brand and from 14:30 for the Innovation Lab speeches and presentations. The place is the Business College “Federico Caffè” in Rome ( here ). Will follow the upstart drink by Upstart Roma.

Huge numbers

I’m preparing sheets for the Business Plan i’m going to present with a group of colleagues at the Innovation Lab that Roma Tre University organized. Huge numbers i’m coming to, made me remember this video. Every time i see that, just perceiving the growing of complexity we are living, i feel shivers. Don’t you ?
