Well, it’s been a while since I wrote the last post in this blog.
The good news is that it’s because i’ve been pretty busy: exams at university are now over.
It’s time to look for my thesis now, but this is another story and is actually a week-old one, since it happend last friday. Where have I been in the last week ? This is actually what this post is about.
Here is the short answer, unfortunately in italian language, by uniroma.tv
Ladies and gentleman, the Innovation Camp introduction video:

Shortly, you have just seen some scenes from the new research center “La Faggeta” of Roma Tre University, an ex NATO-base now renovated, where 20 lucky students like me just had the opportunity to enjoy a full-immersion week on themes such as innovation, business models, market trends, business team building and startups knowledge.

From Monday to Friday we have been presented over 26 hours of speeches from experts and leading people from various business domains, we had the chance to know each other, and to quick build 5 teams. Each team has also been asked to propose a business idea and to make a presentation to be illustrated on friday to a group of both private and public investors, potential partners and hight-profiled people from different fields.

Truth to be told, we have been unplugged from the world for the first two days, as we get a working internet connection only by wednesday morning ( special thanks to Telecom Italia, i highly discourage on using their services ). As you can imagine this really slowed our work, since competitors analysis and market researches were actually out, but then eventually we got the access and we started carrying out our projects.

Yesterday, we presented our projects, and i’m glad to say our audience was really impressed, since even a well-known venture capitalist says our presentations were in the hight portion of the range they classify the projects they see every day ( and they are a lot, i mean really, we talk of something like 600 presentations per year ).

Presenting was not just for fun, it’s been a kind of small competition, and the winners got the right to partecipate to Startup Masters, a startup design course created by Gianluca Dettori, dpixel partner. Once again, the team i was in was not the one who get the better feedback from the audience so we didn’t win. Anyway I don’t really care about that since I’m really satisfied of this experience, as I had the chance to met a lot of interesting people who I’m sure will be a great value in the future, once again I learned a lot on the proposed themes, and I collected a bunch of really precious contacts. And in the end, I think i will apply anyway for Startup Masters if my thesis won’t bring me really far away :P

None of this will be realized without the essential contributions of the main promoter of the initiative, the same of Innovation Lab: (eng.) Augusto Coppola, (prof.) Paolo Merialdo, and (prof.) Carlo Alberto Pratesi. I sincerely want to thank these people for the great opportunity they gave us.

Thats all right now,
I hope to find the time to update more often this blog :)

Cheers!
Alex
